TCM Business Comprehensive Living Assurance Policy Wording

The benefit payable is 25% of the sum assured to a maximum of $10,000 across all Business policies for the life assured where AIA New Zealand Limited is the insurer . The benefit is not payable if the life assured satisfies the criteria for a claim payment under another heart condition across all Business policies where AIA New Zealand Limited is the insurer.

Partial payment

Unequivocal diagnosis of a benign intracranial or spinal cord tumour by an appropriate specialist .

Pulmonary hypertension

Excluded are:

Primary pulmonary hypertension with substantial right ventricular enlargement established by investigations including cardiac catheterisation.

malformations in or of the arteries or veins of the brain, cysts, granulomas, haematomas; and

Major neurological disease

tumours on the pituitary gland.

The benefit payable is 25% of the sum assured to a maximum of $75,000 across all Business Sovereign policies for the life assured .

The life assured has suffered or undergone one of the following conditions :

Alzheimer’s disease

The unequivocal diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, which must confirm permanent irreversible failure of brain function. The diagnosis is confirmed by an appropriate specialist in psychogeriatrics, psychiatry, neurology or geriatrics.

Cerebral Aneurysm

A cerebral aneurysm of any size where the intracranial aneurysm is confirmed by an appropriate specialist and has been treated surgically via clipping or endovascular surgery.

Benign brain or spinal cord tumour

This requires evidence of:

 acute onset of new objective neurological signs and symptoms; and  evidenced by neuro-imaging changes consistent with the signs and symptoms. Only one claim can be made for this partial payment per life assured for the duration of this policy, regardless of the number of cerebral aneurysms suffered. The benefit payable is 25% of the sum assured to a maximum of $75,000 across all Business policies for the life assured where AIA New Zealand Limited is the insurer.

Full payment

A benign tumour of the brain or spinal cord which:

a. results in neurological or spinal (as appropriate) damage and functional impairment which an appropriate specialist deems to be permanent; or

b. is deemed appropriate and medically necessary to be:

treated using major interventional treatment necessary for the therapeutic management of the tumour; or

Coma

A definite diagnosis of a state of unconsciousness resulting in the following for at least 72 hours:

removed through surgery (whether it is able to be removed or not).

 a documented Glasgow Coma Score of 7 or less; and

The presence of the underlying tumour must be confirmed by imaging studies such as a CT or MRI scan.

the use of a life support system.

Coma arising from drug and alcohol abuse is specifically excluded.

Excluded are:

malformations in or of the arteries or veins of the brain cysts, granulomas or haematomas; and

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease

The diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease confirmed by an appropriate specialist neurologist. The life assured must exhibit signs and symptoms of cerebellar dysfunction, severe progressive dementia, uncontrolled muscle spasm, tremor and athetosis, resulting in the life assured requiring permanent and continual medical supervision.
